She says it was a required song to learn when she was in a child in the 60s and bemoans that “nowadays” children aren’t taught these kinds of classics and how the music teacher at her school is teaching Elvis classics and R& B hits from the 80s. “Children would be different today if….” or so she goes.
As with most children’s songs, it’s only after hearing it over and over and over and over again that you, the adult, realizes, wow there’s something in this song for me. Happiness is all these small things that make you happy. Yes!
I agree with that message and hope that when my daughters sing this song over and over and over, again, that they’re getting it to.
